In Honor Of Audrey Hepburn
And based on an e-mail exchange with the fashionable Julia the other day, I have decided that this is the year we are going to bring back the hat. We all know that Ms. Hepburn looked fabulous in a hat (who are we kidding? Ms. Hepburn looked fabulous in everything) and we all know that we have much to learn from her.
I just read a fashion mag that claimed that this will be the year of the glove, but I say they're wrong. It's the year of the hat.
Who's with me?

I think that we have previously discussed my love of hats :-)
Aside from being very sun-sensible (very important here in Australia!), it seems rather disappointing that there isn't as much occassion to wear hats now. I have two fantastic winter hats that it doesn't get cold enough to wear (I really need to move somewhere colder for the winter, just so I can wear them), and one fantastic summer hat that is really only suitable for wearing to the Races (or to Melbourne Cup lunch once a year).
You have to MAKE occassions to wear hats!
I really wish I'd asked that woman at the beach where her hat was from, it was so perfectly Parisian floppy and me. But yes, it's Year Of The Hat (and Dog, two of our favourite things!)
But not dogs in hats.
Are you telling me that you aren't going to make SuperDog wear a matching hat when you are striding about your neighbourhood, looking very Audrey in your hat??? ;-)
Hmm, had been thinking the same thing actually. Well, not about Audrey Hepburn but about hats. `
I love hats and have a few cool ones that I should really find again and wear outside, especially as it is actually cold enough to justify proper winterhats here :)
Im with you.
I just read about the beautiful hats Dita wore for her wedding to Marilyn Manson. Now I want to hit vintage clothing stores and start scooping them up.
Hooray! It's a hat revolution!
I love Audrey and love hats (on other people that is). Unfortunately I feel like such a fool with a hat on. Must get over that. Will be on the lookout for the perfect hat. I'd love to have a reason to acquire a Philip Treacy hat.
Vanessa that is reason enough!
Start small with cute caps -- newsboys and floppy hats and berets. You can move up to the fancier stuff when you're ready. (I have this funky cocktail hat that I still don't have the nerve to wear just anywhere...)
