My name is Theresa, and I am an Olympicaholic

There is only one thing that gets me more jazzed than the Oscars, and that's the Olympics. In particular, the Winter Olympics. More in particular, figure skating. To be exact, Michelle Kwan. So you can imagine the devastation when I found out (at about 12:17 a.m. on Sunday) that she was withdrawing from Torino due to a new injury.

I cried.

But I have a feeling it's for the best. Cheers to Michelle, the bestest of the best.

Love the ice-skating! That's devastating about Michelle - remember her years ago when she blitzed the medals?

Events like the luge and the freehill skating stuff I couldn't care less about (how is luge even a sport?!) but once I put it on I can't stop watching.

I love all of it. But especially the skating. I can remember Michelle at 13, as the alternate to the U.S. team....I've been cheering for her ever since.

Sad that she'll go down as: The best/most-decorated U.S. skater of all time, BUT.....

Her press conference yesterday was just so sad. She was trying to say, "The gold's not everything," but you could see her just crumbling inside.

I think Michell acted with such grace and integrity. When she did an interview this morning with Scott Hamilton(love him too) on the Today show, I could feel her pain. Bless her heart. When Scott told her that she had given the world so many memories she totally teared up. I hope Emily Hughes is thankful for this oppurtunity.

Oh, no! I might have missed that. I hope not. Is that the interview with Bob Costas? (She and Scott are sitting side-by-side on chairs.) If so, it's on-line, and I didn't miss it...if it's a different one, I did. Hope not.

That's a good word for it -- integrity. She could have pushed through, but perhaps would have hurt herself even more and not given the U.S. the best team.

Well, D just took me out for drinks and an early dinner (must make it home in time for the pairs free skate) and we had a good session over Michelle. I feel better. Then we analyzed whether or not we'd make it as a couple were I a gay man (because we all know I'd be a GREAT gay man) because we have so much in common, but then realized it wouldn't work because he'd change the channel to watch Project Runway even if figure skating were on, and I'd have to kill him if he did that!

Quite a productive afternoon, if I do say so myself.
