Baffling Behavior
While watching Munich yesterday (yes, review to come) I had the lovely opportunity to witness a man who:
- Checked his cell phone for messages every 1-5 minutes;
- Laughed throughout the entire movie. ("Oh, those terrorists are so funny! Look at them and their big guns." (I'm not kidding. He laughed throughout the entire movie. Match Point deserved more laughs than this.))
Why? Why? Why?

I actually do this every year during my winter break -- watch all of the movies before the awards shows begin (yes, I must confess, I'm addicted to awards shows). I rarely go to the movie theater after January (maybe five times a year).
Because people are fucked.
Sorry, it's as plain and simple as that and never more apparent than after a visit to the movies.
When my mother and I went to see Rene And I (I reviewed it on my blog) a woman a few rows down answered her phone when it rang. And chatted for a full minute. I couldn't believe it. Then towards the end her phone rang again, and again she spoke for another minute or so. As soon as the first credit rolled I was out of my seat ready to give her a piece of my mind. Mum went over instead (she realised she's the woman that sells smoked salmon to the Russian community, and these things have to be handled delicately) and told her off - the woman just shrugged and said she was taking orders.
Aaaaaaargh!
I know. I was surprised that they changed it to Monday -- I, of course, don't have to work on Tuesday, but I'll be at a friend's house and have to leave early because of public transportation. But I should get all of the pre-show, awards, and some of the after show. Such a geek!
