Am I 60?
Here's my new favorite way to spend an evening at home alone.
First, I fix myself a nice cup of tea. (Here's an article by George Orwell on tea; who knew good ol' George knew so much about tea?)
Then, I crank up my learning French cd's.
While learning French, I practice my knitting.
Then, I curl up in bed with Le Petit Prince. It takes me about an hour to work through four pages, but I'm getting it!

Oh what an ideal evening. I'm envious.
It's becoming a bit of a pattern! But it was my September resolution to re-learn French, and I'm sticking to it.
Ha! My favourite radio DJ said the same thing ages ago, and during winter that's me to a T (sans the knitting bit, although I'd like to retry it again).
That's so great about the French - very proud of you!
I still have absolutely zero confidence (it's been about 12 years since I studied French) but it's coming back pretty well. I get very excited when I can read an entire sentence without having to look up a single word. And it's just so damn beautiful to read!
The knitting I picked up last year but almost immediately stopped doing it. But it is fun to actually make something with my hands. I'm still very much in the basic world of knitting (kind of like the basic world of French!)
